A Quick Look
The SUNY Oneonta baseball team held on for an 11-8 victory over Mount Saint Mary College Wednesday afternoon as Damaschke Field.
The Inside Story
Oneonta (10-12) jumped out to an early lead with three runs on just two hits in the bottom of the first. With runners on first and second, a wild pitch allowed
David Deberardinis (Fishkill/John Jay) and
Jonathan Lezette (Saugerties/Saugerties) to move up a base. When the Mount Saint Mary catcher tied to cut down Lezette at third, the ball sailed into the outfield, allowing him to scamper home.

David Deberardinis (Fishkill/John Jay) to make the score 2-0.
Vincent Prisco (Northport/Saint Dominic) capped of the inning with an RBI single to score McGlynn.
In the bottom of the second,
James Zupo (Massapequa/Massapequa) belted a one-out triple to left, later scoring a wild pitch to put Oneonta ahead 4-0. The Knights cut the lead in half in the top of the third before Oneonta got both runs back in the bottom of the inning on a two-run single by
Patrick McGee (Mahopac/Mahopac). The two teams would exchange runs again in the fourth. Leading 6-4,
David Deberardinis (Fishkill/John Jay) plated
Mickey Mullins (Vestal/Vestal) from third on a ground ball to second. With runners on the corners, Deberardinis got himself into a rundown between first and second, allowing
Jonathan Lezette (Saugerties/Saugerties) to score from third to put Oneonta in front 8-4
Oneonta was able to score twice in the bottom of the fifth without registering a hit to take a 10-4 advantage. The Knights rallied for a run in the six and three in the seventh to cut their deficit to 10-8. Oneonta tallied an insurance run in the bottom of the eighth when
David Deberardinis (Fishkill/John Jay) scored on a wild pitch.
The Knights threatened in the top of the ninth when they loaded the bases with nobody out.
Christopher DiDomizio (Cortlandt Manor/Lakeland) was able to pitch his way out of the jam without any damage to record his second save of the season.
Michael Losak (Merrick/Sanford H. Calhoun) earned the win after allowing one earned run in three innings of work.
