A Quick Look

The Inside Story
Game 1
The Red Dragons got on the board with a run in the top of the first. After Mickey Mullins (Vestal/Vestal) earned a ten-pitch walk to start the game, the senior made his way over to third base with back-to-back steals. Vincent Prisco (Northport/Saint Dominic) plated Mullins with an RBI groundout to short. Oneonta increased their lead to 2-0 in the bottom of the third when Mickey Mullins (Vestal/Vestal) scored on a Penn State throwing error.
Penn State cut their deficit in half with a home run in top of the fifth. Despite leading 2-1, the Red Dragons didn't register a hit until the bottom of the fifth a Mike Graves (Bethlehem/Bethlehem Central) double.
Oneonta broke the game open with five runs in the bottom of the sixth. Jonathan Lezette (Saugerties/Saugerties) plated the first run of the inning with a bases loaded walk. Sean McGlynn (New Hartford/New Hartford) and Mike Graves (Bethlehem/Bethlehem Central) follow with back-to-back RBI singles to make the score 5-1. Mickey Mullins (Vestal/Vestal) capped off the scoring with a two-run single to center.
Sophomore Michael Dunne (Stony Point/Albertus Magnus) earned the win after scattering three hits in six innings of work to even his record to 1-1 on the year.

Game 2
Oneonta broke a scoreless tie in the top of the third when John Zinko (Wallkill/Wallkill) drove in Dominic Lamonica (Stony Brook/Ward Melville) with a double to left center. Penn State looked like they were going to get out of the inning when Jonathan Lezette (Saugerties/Saugerties) hit a pop fly to centerfield, but the outfielder misplayed the ball, allowing Zinko to score. The Red Dragons added two insurance runs in the top of the sixth. With runners on first and third, Lazaro Moralez (Virginia Beach, VA/Green Run) reached on a fielder's choice allowing Jonathan Lezette (Saugerties/Saugerties) to scamper home. Another defensive miscue by Penn State gave the Red Dragons a 4-1 advantage.
Freshman Dean Langman (New Hartford/New Hartford) earned his first collegiate win after allowing just one hit while striking out ten in five innings of work.  Junior Steven Gerringer (LaGrangeville/Arlington) earned his first save of the season after a six pitch seventh inning.
