The SUNY Oneonta women's basketball team scored the game's first 10 points and never looked back enroute to a 53-44 victory tonight at home against Fredonia. Oneonta, ranked No. 6 in the first NCAA East Region this week, are now 17-4 overall and 11-3 in the SUNYAC. The loss for Fredonia drops them to 11-12 overall and 8-8 in conference play.

Alexa Amalbert (Nanuet/Nanuet) led all scorers in the contest with 20 points. Joining her in double digits was senior
Teresa Anken (Rome/Rome Free Academy) who added 10 points.

The Blue Devils were led by Rae White and Sydney Turley with 11 points each. Turley scored her points off the bench including nine points after halftime.

The Red Dragons led 19-7 at the end of the first quarter and 31-16 at the break. Amalbert scored 13 points in the opening half to lead the charge.

Fredonia didn't go quietly outscoring Oneonta 12-9 in the third quarter to cut its deficit 12 points. At one point in the quarter, the Blue Devils had it back to single digits on a Turley free throw with just over two minutes to go. On the ensuing trip up the floor, buried a trey to put Oneonta's lead back to double digits.

Oneonta collected 50 rebounds in the game led by junior
Casey Hayes' (New Hyde Park/Sewanhaka) nine boards. Senior
Madeline Frank (Syracuse/Jamesville-Dewitt) grabbed eight boards to go with nine points while Amalbert collected seven rebounds.

The Red Dragons will be home again tomorrow afternoon when they face Buffalo State beginning at 2pm.
