The SUNY Oneonta baseball team fell to Ferrum College 16-2 on Sunday afternoon. The loss drops the Red Dragons record to 0-3 on the year while the Panthers improve to 3-2.
Oneonta jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first when
James Ceparano (Melville/Half Hollow Hills East) stole home. Oneonta's excitement was short lived as Ferrum responded with three runs in the bottom of the first and never looked back. The Panthers would go on to score in five different innings while pounding out 14 hits.
The Red Dragons could only muster four hits on the day.
Vincent Prisco (Northport/Saint Dominic) went 2-for-3 with a double and a walk while
David Deberardinis (Fishkill/John Jay) and
Mike Graves (Bethlehem/Bethlehem Central) each had a hit. Â
Deberardinis took the loss on the mound, allowing eight runs over three and two-third innings.
The Red Dragons return to action on Saturday, February 23
rd when they travel to the University of Mary Washington for a doubleheader beginning at noon.
