Troy, NY - The SUNY Oneonta Men's Swimming and Diving team earned a split in their tri-meet yesterday defeating The College of St Rose 174-122 and being set back by RPI 194-100.
The results had some noteworthy Red Dragon finishes. In the 200 yard freestyle junior
William Coddington (Highland Mills/Monroe-Woodbury) had a runner-up finish timing in at 1:49.56 just over two seconds behind the RPI winner.  W. Coddington also had a top four finish in the 50 hard freestyle with just less than a second behind the RPI victor. W. Coddington also checked in with a third place result in the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 49.75 just a little more than a second behind the RPI winner.
In the three meter diving competition Oneonta sophomore's
Colin Davis (Chester/Monroe-Woodbury) and
Sean Coddington (Highland Mills/Monroe-Woodbury) were 2nd and 3rd respectfully losing out to the RPI winner. They repeated that result in the one-meter diving contest.
Going into the men's 200 yard backstroke sophomore
Derek Luhrs (Cornwall/Cornwall Central) was top-three finisher when he touched the wall with a time of 2:07.23 just a bit more than four-seconds behind the RPI event champ. Senior
Douglas Alliano (Massapequa/Massapequa) also finished in the top three in the 200 yard breaststroke with a time of 2:29.57 behind the St. Rose and RPI first and second finishers respectfully.Â
Highlighting the 500 yard freestyle was senior
Jared Ciccarelli (Staten Island/Tottenville) and sophomore
Sean Geddes (Farmingdale/Farmingdale) who finish second and third respectfully with RPI taking the top position. Senior
Scott Richardson (Canandaigua/Canandaigua Academy) had a top three finish touching the wall with a time of 55.65 in the 100 yard butterfly with St. Rose earning top honors. In the 200 yard freestyle race Oneonta had a second and third place finish in the last highlight for the men's swimmers on the afternoon. W. Harrison Abrams (Fort Plain/Fort Plain), junior
Christopher Costanzo (Staten Island/Susan E. Wagner) and Richardson came in second while the team of sophomore
Sean Geddes (Farmingdale/Farmingdale), freshman
Edward Geraghty (Floral Park/Floral Park Memorial), junior
Shane Mills (Highland Mills/Monroe-Woodbury) and junior
Ryan Meehan (Brooklyn/Telecommunications)d followed their teammates in third.
The SUNY Oneonta Red Dragons are back in action this coming Saturday, November 16th as they take on their hometown rivals on the campus of Hartwick College in the Moyers Pool beginning at 1 PM.
