Men's swimming & diving drop meet to SUNY Oswego

Oswego, NY - - In their first dual meet of the season, the SUNY Oneonta men's swimming and diving squad were bested by their SUNYAC foes from Oswego with a combined score of 148-92.

Some notable finishes for the Red Dragons happened in the opening contest in the 200 yard medley relay as the team of sophomore Derek Luhrs (Cornwall/Cornwall Central), senior Douglas Alliano (Massapequa/Massapequa), senior Harrison Abrams (Fort Plain/Fort Plain) and sophomore William Coddington (Highland Mills/Monroe-Woodbury) took the runner-up spot with a time of 1:44.58 just under five-seconds behind the Oswego pace setters.   Coddington was also a runner-up in the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 22.30 just under two-seconds behind the Oswego racer.  Coddington then took another runner-up position in the 100 yard butterfly only .32 seconds behind the Oswego winner.  Abrams was also a runner-up in the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 59.77 under three-seconds back of the Oswego victor.

Another highlight for the Red Dragon men was in the 1000 yard freestyle as senior Scott Richardson (Canandaigua/Canandaigua Academy) turned in a runner-up performance with a time of 10:40.48 just over seven-seconds behind the Oswego victor.  Richardson also took the second place finish only .32 behind the Oswego victor in the 100 yard butterfly.  In the 200 yard freestyle junior Christopher Costanzo (Staten Island/Susan E. Wagner) was a notable runner-up scoring a time of 1:51.94 just under one-second behind the Oswego winner. 

An exciting race occurred in the 200 yard individual medley when  junior Daniel Kohler (Nanuet/Nanuet) took the runner-up spot just under two-seconds behind the event champion from the Lakers.

More runner-up finishes for the Red Dragons in the 500 yard freestyle (Coddington), sophomore Sean Coddington (Highland Mills/Monroe-Woodbury) in the one-meter dive,  100 yard breaststroke (Aliano) and the 200 yard freestyle relay (sophomore Sean Geddes (Farmingdale/Farmingdale), Abrams, Costanzo and Richardson).
The Red Dragon's swimming and diving squad next swim against RPI and the College of St. Rose on Sunday, November 10th in Troy, NY beginning at 1 PM.
