New Paltz, NY – The men's swimming and diving team took on their conference rival the SUNY New Paltz Hawks and lost 109-96 dropping the Red Dragons to 2-3 on the season.
There were some notable results for Oneonta which took place in the 200-yard freestyle as junior
Scott Richardson (Canandaigua/Canandaigua Academy) took the winner's position when he touched the wall with a time of 1:48.35 over three-seconds ahead of the runner-up from New Paltz. Richardson was also a winner in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 55.49 with a small margin of .37 to spare to score the win.
The 50-yard freestyle also had a Red Dragon victor when sophomore
William Coddington (Highland Mills/Monroe-Woodbury) won with a time of 21:87 just .88 seconds ahead of the New Paltz second place finisher. Coddington scored a win also in the 100-yard freestyle for his second win on the afternoon timing in at 48.55 with 1.42 seconds to spare ahead of the New Paltz runner-up.
The last recorded win on the day for the Red Dragons happened in the 400-yard freestyle as Coddington and Richardson joined teammates junior
Harrison Abrams (Fort Plain/Fort Plain) along with
Christopher Costanzo (Staten Island/Susan E. Wagner) as victors. The time was 3:17.44 just under three-seconds ahead of the relay team from New Paltz.
The SUNY Oneonta Red Dragons will now prepare for their rivals SUNY Cortland. The meet will be contested on Saturday, February 2
nd beginning at 1 PM on the campus of SUNY Cortland.
