Oneonta, NY - The men's swimming and diving team returned to action after a holiday break and training trip in Florida and came away today with a close win over SUNY Brockport 155-141.
The first win for the Red Dragons came in the 1000 yard freestyle as sophomore
Daniel Kohler (Nanuet/Nanuet) earned the win with a time of 10:53.46 while his teammates junior
Jared Ciccarelli (Staten Island/Tottenville) and freshman
Jack Ryan (Clifton Park/Shenendehowa East) took runner-up and third place respectfully.  The Red Dragons had a big win in the 200 yard butterfly as juniors
Scott Richardson (Canandaigua/Canandaigua Academy) and Ciccarelli took first and second with times of 2:02.95 and 2:05.98 respectfully.
Later on, sophomore Billy Coddington took the winning position in the 100 yard freestyle timing in at 48.71 just less than two seconds ahead of the Brockport second-place finisher. The 200 yard backstroke had a freshman take the top position when Red Dragon
Derek Luhrs (Cornwall/Cornwall Central) scored a time of 2:20.51.
Moving into the 100 yard butterfly the Red Dragon men got the top three scores when Richardson swam a time of 55:01 with teammates sophomore
Christopher Costanzo (Staten Island/Susan E. Wagner) and Kohler finishing just behind him.
Wrapping up on the wins for the day was Costanzo in the 200 yard individual medley with a time of 2:07.37 just .28 seconds ahead of the Brockport runner-up.
The men's swimming and diving squad are back in action on Saturday, January 26th v the SUNY New Paltz Hawks on the campus of New Paltz beginning at 1 PM.
