The SUNY Oneonta women's soccer team put today's game against Eastern away early with three goals in the first 20 minutes en route to the 3-0 victory. The win for the Red Dragons earned them a split of its opening pair of games to start the 2018 season. Yesterday, Oneonta fell to Misericordia 1-0 on the road.

Junior
Christina Kornfeld (Mount Sinai/Miller Place) got things going in the third minute for Oneonta. She collected a pass over the top of the defense from sophomore
Micaela Honsinger (New Hartford/New Hartford), who won the ball before chipping the ball deep into the box.

Honsinger figured in the next goal 11 minutes later when she sent in a free kick from the right side in front of the goal where it was finished by freshman
Sienna Nicolich (Glen Cove/Glen Cove) for her first collegiate goal.

The final goal for the Red Dragons came in the 20
th minute when senior
Hannah Kaplan (Smithtown/Hauppauge) cleaned up a rebound after a crossing pass from senior
Seaver Lipshie (Port Jefferson Station/Comsewogue).

Oneonta outshot Eastern 15-7 including a 10-0 advantage in the opening half of play. Eight of the Red Dragon shots were on frame with the three getting past the keeper.

Freshman
Claire Lepper (Poland/Poland) earned her first collegiate win in goal playing the first half for Oneonta. Sophomore
Jolene Krom (Sidney/Sidney) and sophomore
Alexis Ryder (Rotterdam/Schalmont) split the second half to complete the combined shutout.

Oneonta will be in action again next Saturday when they play Smith College at Hartwick College in its opening match of the 2018 Oneonta Mayor's Cup Tournament.
