Maine-Endwell, NY. The SUNY Oneonta baseball team wrapped up a conference series with Oswego State today in Endwell, NY. The series was moved to a neutral site and the games were moved to Saturday and Sunday. The Red Dragons fell to the Lakers in the double header yesterday by the scores of 10-3 and 6-1. In the final game of the series today, the Lakers bested the Red Dragons 13-2. Oswego State improved to 8-1 in the SUNYAC and 16-5 overall. The Red Dragons dropped to 3-8 in the SUNYAC and 7-16 overall.
In game one, the Red Dragons sent out senior
Thomas Bond (Somers/North Salem) to open up the series. The captain pitched five innings which included seven runs allowed, four earned. He also registered four strikeouts. On the offensive side of the ball, the Red Dragons had nine hits with multi-hit games from
Dalton Beatty (Atwater, CA/Atwater),
Dominic Lamonica (Stony Brook/Ward Melville) and
Patrick McGee (Mahopac/Mahopac).
Takoda Sitar (Katonah/Somers) got the nod for the Red Dragons in the seven inning game of the double header. Sitar went 4.2 innings striking out six batters and allowing four runs off of seven hits while walking two batters. Lamonica continued to drive the ball going 2-3 with a double and a run batted in.
In the final game of the series, the Red Dragons sent our senior
Nicholas Ponesse (Newburgh/Valley Central). The senior pitched 2.1 innings and recorded one strikeout. Classmate
James McCarty (Stony Brook/Chaminade) came in relief and pitched six innings fanning four batters while allowing five runs (two earned). Beatty registered two of the Red Dragons' six hits including a single in the 9
th inning, which drove in
Mickey Mullins (Vestal/Vestal) for the last run of the game.
The Red Dragons next match up is scheduled for Tuesday, April 10
th against Mount St. Vincent at home.
