Kings Point, NY. The SUNY Oneonta baseball team dropped both Sunday afternoon games against Merchant Marine. The Red Dragons fell to 6-9 on the season and Merchant Marine improved to 10-4. For the Red Dragons senior

In the first game, the Red Dragon bats were silenced until the bottom of the 7
th inning when freshman catcher
John Zinko (Wallkill/Wallkill) broke up the no-hit bid by Merchant's Joe Raab. Zinko drove a ball to left field for the first runner since senior
Brandon Torres (Highland Mills/Monroe-Woodbury) walked and stole a base in the first inning.
Ponesse dealt for five innings while only allowing two earned runs and striking out three batters. He was relieved by classmate Chris DiDomizio in the sixth inning. DiDomizio faced four batters in the inning and worked three ground outs.
In game two, the Red Dragons offense scored two runs off of four hits. The first run scored for the Red Dragons came in the fourth inning while trialing 3-0. Senior
Dalton Beatty (Atwater, CA/Atwater) doubled to right center field to score junior
Mickey Mullins (Vestal/Vestal). In the next inning, the Red Dragons pushed its second run of the game across on a single to left field by
Donald Geloso (Staten Island/Monsignor Farrell) that brought home sophomore
Brandon LaVenture (Schenectady/Notre Dame-Bishop Gibbons).
The Red Dragons would go on to drop the second game by a score of 4-2.
The Red Dragons are scheduled to take on SUNYAC opponent, SUNY Brockport next weekend on Friday and Saturday in Brockport, NY.
