The SUNY Oneonta women's basketball team led for nearly 38 minutes today breezing past Plattsburgh 65-37. The Red Dragons trailed for exactly one minute early in the first period before seizing the momentum en route to its largest margin of victory this season.

Oneonta (13-6, 8-4 SUNYAC) dominated in the paint, off the bench and turned 19 Plattsburgh (6-13, 5-8 SUNYAC) turnovers into 23 points. The Red Dragons outscored the Cardinals 24-4 in the paint while their reserves held a 27-16 advantage in the game.

Oneonta fell behind 2-0 and 5-2 early in the opening quarter before asserting itself on both ends of the floor grabbing a 15-11 lead by the end of the first quarter. Junior
Teresa Anken (Rome/Rome Free Academy) scored five of her 12 points in the first quarter while classmate
Madeline Frank (Syracuse/Jamesville-Dewitt) added four points.

The Red Dragons outscored the Cardinals, 13-9, in the second quarter to grab a 28-20 lead at halftime. Sophomore
Leanne Corso (Commack/Commack) led Oneonta with eight points in the quarter. Corso finished the game with 10 points.

Oneonta broke the game wide open in the third quarter scoring 23 points while holding Plattsburgh to just five points. After a three-pointer by Anna Thompson of Plattsburgh, Oneonta scored the next 16 points to take a commanding 44-23 lead. In the quarter, the Red Dragons scored 10 points off turnovers and 10 second-chance points. Sophomore
Casey Hayes (New Hyde Park/Sewanhaka), freshman
Clara Culeton (Oswego/Oswego) and junior
Brooke Howell (Dundee/Dundee) combined to contribute 11 points off the bench for Oneonta. Culeton finished with a team high nine rebounds while Howell scored a season high nine points.

Oneonta collected a season high 13 steals in the game while recording 19 assists. They pulled down 51 rebounds for the third time this season and blocked four shots.

Senior
Samantha Lisikatos (Cold Spring/Haldane) played her final regular season home today on her birthday. Lisikatos scored three points, grabbed five rebounds, dished out five assists and had four steals.

The women will begin its month-long road trip next weekend at Fredonia and Buffalo State.
