The SUNY Oneonta baseball team was swept by No. 9 Oswego in a conference series. The Red Dragons end their season with a 14-20 overall record and a 5-13 record in the SUNYAC. The Lakers improved to 28-8 and 15-3 in the SUNYAC, which gives them the regular season crown.
In the first game of the three game set, the Red Dragons fell behind early to the Lakers. The Lakers scored five runs in the bottom of the first inning and added another four in the following inning to take a 9-0 lead. The Red Dragons two runs in the game came in the seventh inning. Brandon LaVenture (Schenectady/Notre Dame-Bishop Gibbons) doubled to right field. Senior
LJ Gizzarelli (Newburgh/Newburgh Free Academy) singled to right field to advance LaVenture to third base. A passed ball scored LaVenture and moved Gizzarelli into scoring position. Junior
Brandon Torres (Highland Mills/Monroe-Woodbury) with two outs, singled to left field to score Gizzarelli to bring the score to 11-2. The Lakers added another run in bottom of the eighth inning to make the final score of 12-2.
On the Saturday the Red Dragons matched up against the Lakers ace Tim Cronin in the seven inning game. The Red Dragons held a momentary lead in the top frame of the third inning when they scored one run off of two hits. Torres was hit by a pitch, and he stole second base to start the inning. Senior
Casy Kies (Apalachin/Vestal) singled through the left side, and Torres attempted to score but he was thrown out at home.During the next at bat Kies stole second base to get in scoring position. Classmate
Sean Mullins (Vestal/Vestal) singled to right field to put the Red Dragons on the board, 1-0. The Lakers scored in the bottom half of the frame to tie the game at one. In the top of the fourth inning, a walk and sacrifice bunt put the Red Dragons in business. With

Michael Grudzinski (Islip/Islip) at the dish, Grudzinski singled up the middle to put the Red Dragons back on top, 2-1. The Lakers offense picked up the bottom of the fourth and fifth innings scoring a combined five runs to bring the score to 6-1. They Lakers would hold on to win the game by a score of 7-2.
In the last game of the series, the Lakers came out scoring the first four runs of the game. The Red Dragons cut the lead to 4-1, in the fourth inning off of three hits. Junior
Dalton Beatty (Atwater/Atwater) singled to center field, and Prisco doubled to left field to put runners on both second and third. A sacrifice fly ball by
Sage Cheren (Bronx/Riverdale Kingsbridge Academy) scored Prisco to bring the score within three runs. The Lakers scored another five runs in between the Red Dragons next run which came in the ninth inning. With the score at 9-1,
Mickey Mullins (Vestal/Vestal) walked and stole second base. A double by Cheren down the left field line scored M. Mullins to bring the game to the final score of 9-2.
Zachary Zimardo (Massapequa Park/Massapequa) pitched 3.0 innings for the Red Dragons without allowing an earned run. He struck out four batters and allowing four hits.
The Red Dragons finished the season in fifth place in the SUNYAC just missing the playoffs by one slot. The Red Dragons also reached 14 wins, which hasn't happened since the 2012 season when they finished with 18 victories.
