The SUNY Oneonta softball team picked up a pair of victories on day two of its season opening trip to Florida. Today, the Red Dragons defeated Drew University 5-4 before disposing of Haverford 10-2 in six innings.

Oneonta 5, Drew 4
A three-run sixth inning lifted the Red Dragons against Drew in the first game today. Oneonta took advantage of four Drew errors that led to a couple of unearned runs overall.

Senior
Katie O'Gorman (Clifton Park/Shenendehowa) drove in the tying runs with a sharp single up the middle that scored sophomore
Alyssa Garrison (Clifton Park/Shenendehowa) and classmate
Killeen Martin (Bay Shore/Bay Shore). Garrison drew a leadoff walk and Martin reached on a fielding error by the third baseman. Both moved into scoring position on a wild pitch before O'Gorman's single.

With two outs,
Lauren Sabatino (Bayville/Locust Valley) reached on an infield single that scored O'Gorman from third with the eventual winning run.

The Red Dragons scored its first two runs of the game when senior
Marlene Cuevas (Wappingers Falls/Roy C. Ketcham) singled down the left field line with one out that scored freshman
Kate Jencarelli (Roseland, NJ/West Essex ) and senior
Jennifer Brocco (Kingston/Kingston).

Sophomore
Kate Wood (Suffern/Suffern) picked up the win after entering the game in the bottom of the fifth in relief of starter
Amanda Graziano (Riverhead/Riverhead) and recorded the final out. Freshman
Julia Calabro (Wantagh/St. John the Baptist) recorded her first collegiate save pitching a pair of scoreless innings.

Oneonta 10, Haverford 2
The Red Dragon bats jumped on the Haverford starter in the bottom of the first inning scoring five runs. Oneonta made Haverford pay for a pair of errors in the inning. Brocco smacked a double to drive in a pair of runs.

Oneonta finished the game with 14 hits including three from Sabatino. Brocco, Jencarelli and freshman
Brooke Corbett (Bethlehem/Bethlehem Central/Delmar) each had two hits in the game.

Senior
Sabrina DeAngelis (East Meadow/Kellenberg Memorial) picked up her second win of the season throwing six innings allowing three hits and striking out two.

Oneonta will play Sage Colleges and Saint Vincent tomorrow at 9am and 3:30pm respectively.
