New Paltz, NY - The SUNY Oneonta men's swimming and diving team dropped their first meet of the new year losing to SUNY rival New Paltz 138-116.
There were several highlights for the Red Dragons and one of them came in the 10th event of the day when, in the 100 yard breaststroke, junior
Zeke Brynin (Pleasantville/Pleasantville) scored a victory timing in at 1.00.60 almost four seconds ahead of the New Paltz runner-up. Brynin then came back in the 200 yard breaststroke scoring another triumph with a time of 2:14.63 with an impressive gap of almost seven seconds ahead of the New Paltz second place finisher. Brynin also scored a win in the 200 yard individual medley with a time of 2:05.23 with teammate senior
Greg Fothergill (Lindenhurst/Lindenhurst Senior) coming in second.
In event 24, freshman
Scott Richardson (Canandaigua/Canandaigua Academy ) found a win when he touched the wall in first place with a time of 56.58 in the 100 yard butterfly almost three seconds ahead of the New Paltz rival. In the final event of the afternoon in the 400 yard freestyle the Red Dragons found a triumph as the team of senior

Dillon Harding (Clifton Park/Shenendehowa), Richardson and freshman
Charles Buscemi (Fairport/Penfield) recorded a time of 3:28.71 almost 13 seconds ahead of teammates from Oneonta. Â
The men's swimming and diving team will have another week off before heading to SUNY Cortland in a pool battle of the Red Dragons on Saturday, January 28th beginning at 1 PM.Â
