Personal Reflections
Let me start back at the beginning....

Tracey and Dave Ranieri came to watch a Burnt Hills vs Shenendehowa game when I was a senior in high school. I spoke with them after the game and they told me I should come look at Oneonta State.  I had no idea where I wanted to go to school so I discussed this with my parents and we thought it would be a good idea to go visit.  When we went on the tour, it was so cold that it could have been snowing (surprise! SNOW in Oneonta)!  Dave took the time with us to show us everything on campus.  My parents and I were so impressed that O-State became my #1 choice.

Fast forward to my years at O-State.....
Here are some things that come to mind when I think back on my time at the college:
-being tripled my freshman year (this means there were 3 girls in one room) until another room opened and I moved out so we each could have more space
-each preseason for soccer had double or triple sessions each day (sometimes even 4 sessions)
-summer workouts while I lived in Oneonta each summer
-staying in the dorms for each preseason and completing a to-do list before all the other students got on campus
-van rides out to the Soccer Hall of Fame fields for each practice (lots of team bonding time)
-playing games at the Soccer Hall of Fame (until my senior year when the Alumni Field was ready)
-each trip I took with the team (Florida, New Orleans, England/France, and Arizona) and we got to play the best competition
-starting at center midfield my freshman year in my first game vs William Smith and playing my career at center mid
-becoming an All-American my senior year
-top goal scorer my senior year

There were several reasons why I choose to go to Oneonta State. Of course one of them was academics.  I could not have asked for a better experience in the classroom to prepare me for becoming a teacher.  I will be starting my 13th year of teaching at Laurens Central School where I work as a reading specialist in the Title I Program.  Athletics was another strong reason.  Through the soccer program at Oneonta I learned teamwork, leadership, and commitment.  Soccer was my life in college.  I found another home at O-State where I felt like I belonged.  I would not trade my time at O-State for anything else in the world.

Tracey told me that I would be in the 2016 induction class on the morning of June 11th when I was out for a run.  After she told me the tears began to flow.  I was just beginning my run so I wanted to keep going but my mind started to spin with memories and feelings about being inducted.  I finished my run while I was still crying.  I am so thankful and honored to be inducted into Oneonta's Hall of Fame.  There are no words to express how much it means.  Oneonta State continues to be a part of my life and always will be.

DuCharme, along with three former student athletes and one Honorary Inductee will be part of the 18th SUNY Oneonta Athletics Hall of Fame class to be inducted on Saturday, Sep. 17.  This year's class will bring the number of inductees to 131 individuals including 10 honorary inductees.  The induction will take place in the Dewar Arena of the Alumni Field House and will begin at noon.  The induction is free and open to the public.
