After a sluggish first quarter, the SUNY Oneonta women's basketball team kicked it into overdrive en route to a 62-31 lopsided victory against visiting Oswego tonight in its first contest of the New Year. The Red Dragons scored 37 points in the final two periods to remain undefeated in the SUNYAC at 3-0, while winning its third straight game.

Lyteshia Price (Liverpool/Liverpool) led all scorers with 16 points while junior
Kathryn Polletta (Ossining/Ossining) came off the bench and added a career high 11 points. Polletta played six minutes and drilled a pair of three-pointers, as she scored all of her points in the final two quarters.

Oneonta (7-3) blew the game wide open with 16 unanswered points to start the third quarter, which pushed its lead to 52-24. Price led the charge with eight points, which included a pair from behind the arc. Price also had nine boards, three assists, two steals and a block in the game.

Freshman
Teresa Anken (Rome/Rome Free Academy) scored 10 points and grabbed five rebounds for the Red Dragons, who outscored the Lakers bench 30-11.

Oneonta finished the game with nine three-pointers and outrebounded Oswego (2-8/0-3 SUNYAC) 50-34. The Red Dragons collected 16 offensive rebounds including four by freshman
Madeline Frank (Syracuse/Jamesville-Dewitt), who finished with six boards and five points.

Oneonta will play next on Friday night at SUNY Geneseo, as they play the first of two road SUNYAC games. Saturday the Red Dragons will be at Brockport. Friday's game starts at 5:30pm while Saturday's contest is slated for a 2pm tipoff.
