The SUNY Oneonta men's swimming & diving team was defeated yeaterday by the New Paltz Hawks 142-120.
The leading performer on the day was sophomore Zeke Brynin (Pleasantville/Pleasantville) who came away with three individual victories that included a pool record. Â Brynin touched the wall in a time of 59.96 in the 100 yard breaststroke to set a new pool record in the event. Â He later followed with victories in the 200 yard breaststroke with a time of 2:11.87 and the 200 yard individual medley with a time of 2:03.55.
Senior Lucas Santiago (Amsterdam/Amsterdam) won a pair of events for Oneonta with first place finishes in the 100 and 200-yard butterfly. Â He clocked a time of 54.17 in winning the 100 while touching in 2:02.59 to win the 200.Other highlights in the meet included sophomore
Connor Killane (Clifton Park/Shenendehowa) taking first in the 1000 yard freestyle more than 29 seconds ahead of his Hawks rival. Junior
Conor Kelly (Staten Island/Saint Peter's) took was triumphant in the 200 yard freestyle timing in at 1:51.96. Â Both Killane and Kelly were also the first and second finishers in the 500 yard freestyle. Â Senior
Joseph Morgan (Cornwall/Cornwall) took the top spot in the 100 yard backstroke.
The men's swimming and diving team will host its rival SUNY Cortland next Saturday, January 30th at 1 PM in the Chase Physical Education Building Pool.
