Senior Brynn Loomis scores career high 18 points

In a match up between the two top teams in the SUNYAC standings, round one went to the SUNY Oneonta Red Dragons, as they easily defeated visiting Fredonia this afternoon 77-52.  With the victory, Oneonta (11-4/7-1 SUNYAC) takes over sole possession of first place in the conference while the loss drops Fredonia to 12-5 overall and 7-3 in conference play.

The Red Dragons seized control of the game in the opening quarter with a 16-5 run over the final 6:32 to take a 21-14 lead into the second quarter.  Senior Bryn Loomis (Norwich/Norwich) ended the first quarter with a put back as the buzzer sounded.  She was fouled on the play and made the free throw to finish off the three-point play.  Loomis came off the bench to lead all scorers in the game with a career high 18 points.

Oneonta continued to pull away from the Blue Devils in the second quarter, as they outscored Fredonia, 24-15, to grab a 45-29 lead at halftime.  The Red Dragons shot nearly 50 percent overall in the opening half and made 6-of-15 from behind the arc.

Senior Lyteshia Price (Liverpool/Liverpool) and junior Cara Adams (Attleboro, MA/Bishop Feehan) joined Loomis in double figures today with 14 and 13 points respectively.  Price added 10 boards for her seventh double double of the season while freshman Madeline Frank (Syracuse/Jamesville-Dewitt) came off the bench to grab 10 rebounds.

As a team, Oneonta collected 22 assists and 17 steals.  They converted 24 Fredonia turnovers into 27 points while getting 32 points from the reserves.

Fredonia was led by freshman Jenna Einink who came off the bench to score 14 points.
