Cortland, N.Y. – The SUNY Oneonta softball came to an end Friday afternoon as the Red and White dropped a pair of games in the SUNYAC Tournament. Oneonta fell to Geneseo 2-0 in a pitching duel, before falling to Brockport in extra innings.
Sophomore
Sabrina DeAngelis (East Meadow/Kellenberg Memorial) tossed a complete game against Geneseo allowing both runs (one earned) on four hits with three strikeouts. The offense recorded four base knocks. The two runs came on an RBI double and a dropped fly ball.
Senior
Rachel Hitt (Boonville/Adirondack Central) tossed 7.2 innings against Brockport allowing four runs on 10 hits with a half dozen punch outs. The Red and White struck first in the bottom of the second with a sac fly by
Ashley Lefebvre (Waterford/Waterford-Halfmoon) that scored
Meaghan Foster (Walden/Valley Central), who was pinch running for
Marlene Cuevas (Wappingers Falls/Roy C. Ketcham).
Brockport responded in the top of the third with an RBI single to center by Brianna Harris. The scored remained 1-1 until the top of the sixth when the Golden Eagles scored on an RBI single to second by Lindsay Wachna.
The Red Dragons got the run back in the bottom of the seventh when
Katie O'Gorman (Clifton Park/Shenendehowa) to a 1-1 shot over the left field fence.
Brockport sent two solo long balls over the fence in the top of the eighth to take the win.
Oneonta concludes the season with a 25-14 record, including playoffs.
