The SUNY Oneonta men's lacrosse team dominated from the opening whistle en route to a 15-7 victory today at home against city-rival Hartwick College. The win for the Red Dragons, who got goals from eight different players, brings them to within a game of .500 at 6-7 overall while the loss dropped the Hawks to 3-9.

Alec Solomito (Holtsville/Sachem East) and sophomore
Nathan Doody (Tully/Tully) kicked things off for Oneonta with goals just 28 seconds apart in the third minute of the game.

After an Evan Petillo goal got Hartwick on the board, the Red Dragons ripped off three unanswered including a second goal by both Solomito and Doody. Oneonta took a 5-2 lead into the second period after a late goal by the Hawks cut their lead back to three goals.

Oneonta put the game out of reach with nine straight goals over the second and third quarters. Hartwick scored a goal with 4:13 remaining in the third, but Oneonta carried a 14-3 lead into the fourth quarter.

Austin McAskill (Baldwinsville/C.W. Baker) all contributed a pair of goals to the win.

Oneonta needs a win this coming Saturday at home versus Potsdam in the regular season finale. The Red Dragons are battling for the final spots in the SUNYAC tournament that takes four teams. The contest is slated for a 2:30pm start.
