The SUNY Oneonta baseball traveled to face No. 1 SUNY Cortland this weekend and didn't fare well, as their rival swept them. Cortland (27-2, 12-1 SUNYAC) took control from the opening pitch yesterday, defeating Oneonta 13-0 in game 1 of the three-game series. Today was no different, as Oneonta (6-18, 3-10 SUNYAC) fell 10-3 and 21-3 in the series-ending doubleheader.
Â
The lone highlight from the first game today was the first collegiate home run for freshman
Joshua Quesada (Burnt Hills/Burnt Hills Ballston Lake). It was a three-run shot that cleared the left field fence in the fifth inning.
Â
In today's series final, senior
Mike Cruz (Levittown/Division Avenue) cracked his second home run of the season in a three-run sixth inning for Oneonta. Cruz finished the game with a pair of hits, as did sophomore
Casy Kies (Apalachin/Vestal). Kies had the other run batted in for Oneonta in the sixth inning.

Oneonta will have a weeklong home stand beginning on Tuesday when they host New Paltz in a doubleheader scheduled to begin at noon.
