On the next to the last day of its spring trip to Florida, the SUNY Oneonta baseball team dropped a doubleheader against Clarkson by the scores of 10-2 and 3-0. Oneonta is now 3-5 overall with a single game tomorrow versus Medaille beginning at 9:30am.

In the opening game of the twin bill, Clarkson (4-0) broke the game wide open with a six-run fourth to take a commanding 9-0 lead. Oneonta starter
Thomas Bond (Somers/North Salem) was chased from the game with two outs and the bases loaded in the inning. The Golden Knights scored its six runs on four hits including one double.

Oneonta had five hits in the game including three in the sixth inning when they scored their second run. In the fifth inning, the Red Dragons scored its first run when junior
LJ Gizzarelli (Newburgh/Newburgh Free Academy) was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to bring home classmate
Dylan Stamile (Long Beach, NY/Bowie (Austin, TX)), who reached on an error to start the inning. Stamile drove in junior
Casey Kerdesky (Cornwall/Cornwall) for Oneonta's run in the sixth with a two-out single. Kerdesky hit a one-out single and went to second on a ground out before coming around to score.

Bond was hit with the loss for Oneonta, as he fell to 1-1 on the season. He struck out four batters while allowing eight runs, seven earned, in 4 2/3 innings.

In the second game, Oneonta managed only four hits in the contest, as juniors

Casey Kerdesky (Cornwall/Cornwall), senior
Jon Halligan (Cornwallville/Cairo Durham) and Gizzarelli had one hit each.

Clarkson scored a single run in the first inning and a pair of runs in the third and did no further damage.

Freshman
James McCarty (Stony Brook/Chaminade) threw five solid innings striking out four hitters. He surrendered two hits and three runs, none of which were earned.
