Oswego, NY - The SUNY Oneonta men's swimming and diving team came up just short today at their first dual meet of the season against conference rival The SUNY Oswego Lakers 123-111.
The Red Dragons did have some winners today to help keep the meet close.Â
Junior Lucas Santiago (Amsterdam/Amsterdam) was the top swimmer for the Red Dragons today with three individual victories.  He won the 200 yard individual medley, finishing more than two seconds ahead of his Oswego challenger. He followed that up with a win in the 100 yard butterfly, just .68 ahead of the Oswego second place finisher. His final win of the day came in the 100 yard backstroke, .44 seconds ahead of the Oswego challenger.
Other winners for Oneonta in the meet were sophomore Connor Killane (Clifton Park/Shenendehowa) in the 1000 yard freestyle with a time of 10:48.56, more than 18 seconds ahead of the runner-up from Oswego. Junior
Conor Kelly (Staten Island/Saint Peter's) also won his event when he was triumphant in the 200 yard freestyle finishing just under two seconds ahead of the Oswego second place finisher. Â Killane and Kelly also went 1-2 in the 500-yard freestyle to collect 13 more points for the Red Dragons.
The last win of the day came in the 100-yard breaststroke when sophomore
Zeke Brynin (Pleasantville/Pleasantville) won the event finishing more than three seconds ahead of the second place Oswego contender.
The SUNY Oneonta men will have almost two weeks to prepare as they travel to the College of St. Rose for a meet on Friday, November 6th beginning at 7:30 PM.
