Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women's soccer battles wind and Brockport to a draw

Red Dragons remain atop of SUNYAC

The SUNY Oneonta women's soccer team battled wind conditions and the Golden Eagles on the road today and came away with a 0-0 tie after 110 minutes of soccer.  The Red Dragons remained unbeaten and in first place in the SUNYAC, as they are now 6-1-2 overall and 2-0-1 in conference play.

The Red Dragons outshot host Brockport (5-3-2/1-1-1 SUNYAC), 17-13, in the match while earning five corners to the Golden Eagles' two.

Oneonta senior goalkeeper, Rori Stark (Brewster/Brewster), came up big today for the Red Dragons.  Stark entered the game at the start of the second half and made six saves including one late in the first overtime that preserved the tie.

The wind wreaked havoc the whole game and caused a shot by Courtney Szczeniak to change direction where Stark had to make a one-handed diving stop to punch the ball away from further danger.

Sophomore Amanda Roney (Schoharie /Middleburgh) recorded five shots for Oneonta in the match, two of which ended up on frame.  Senior Kayla Ceschini (Miller Place/Miller Place) had three shots in the match for Oneonta.

The Red Dragons will play at SUNY Geneseo tomorrow for a 1pm match.  The defending SUNYAC champions defeated New Paltz today, 3-0.
