Box Score Rochester, N.Y. – The SUNY Oneonta women's soccer team fell 2-0 at the hands of #21Rochester Institute of Technology Friday afternoon.
Goalkeeper Kelly Murphy came up big early making a point blank save in the 12
th minute. However, just six minutes later RIT's Quincey Ornellas headed a corner off the foot of Liz May to give the Tigers a 1-0 advantage; that score would stay that way through halftime.
The Red and White came out determined to the start the second half as senior captain
Sarah Glowa (Burnt Hills/Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) headed a ball just wide from inside the box.
RIT added a goal in the 53
rd minute to bring the game to 2-0.
Jessica Lyden (Burnt Hills/Burnt Hills) provided a chance with a header in the 80
th minute, but was robbed the RIT keeper.
Oneonta's defense improved in the second half allowing just a trio of shots compared to the nine allowed in the first half. Glowa and
Caitlyn LaPier (Chazy/Chazy) lead the Red Dragon offense with a pair of shots each. Murphy registered four saves on the afternoon.
The Red and White are back in action tomorrow afternoon, when they travel to Nazareth for a 2:00 p.m. start.
