The bats came alive this afternoon for the SUNY Oneonta softball team on the road against Potsdam as they won the doubleheader, taking the first game 8-0 and the second 7-0. The Red Dragons improve to 18-9 overall and 8-3 in the conference while Potsdam falls to 2-16 overall and 1-5 in the SUNYAC.

Sabrina DeAngelis (East Meadow/Kellenberg Memorial) continues her stellar performance this season by throwing a one-hit shutout in earning her ninth win and second consecutive complete game. She allowed the lone hit, a single, in the second inning before shutting down Potsdam, including striking out ten of the Bears.
Oneonta started the day off by plating two runs in the first inning.
Jamie Whittam singled to lead-off and scored on a Traci Lichtenstein double. Brianna Rivera would bring Lichtenstein around with a single of her own for the early 2-0 lead.
Lichtenstein would bring home three more runs in the top of the fourth inning with her team-leading second homerun to give Oneonta a 5-0 lead.

Jennifer Brocco (Kingston/Kingston) double in the fifth brought Nichole Paolino and Whittam, who walked and singled respectively, home for the 7-0 lead. Brocco would strike again in the seventh inning with a single that once again brought home Whittam.
The second game of the afternoon started much the same way the first did with Oneonta jumping out to a 2-0 lead after the first. Rivera would single to score Whittam for the first run of the game. Nicole Marzillo followed with a double to bring home the second.
The Red Dragons would add two more in the second. Lichtenstein continued her hot hitting as she doubled to bring home both runs after a Meaghan Foster single and Whittam bunt single.
A double steal by Foster and Nicole Brieva in the top of the sixth allowed Brieva to score. Whittam singled in Foster and would score on a Brocco double.
Juniors Rachel Hitt and Katie O'Flynn and freshman Anna Husain combined for a seven hit shutout. Hitt picked up her seventh win, striking out four.
Oneonta will play again tomorrow, April 19
th, at Plattsburgh for a doubleheader starting at 12 p.m.
