The SUNY Oneonta men's swimming and diving team defeated visiting SUNY Cortland this afternoon 134-104, making it three consecutive years to do so. The win improves their dual meet record to 6-2. The team now has almost two weeks as they prepare for the SUNYAC Championships that begin February 19th, hosted by Erie C.C. in Buffalo.
The 200 yard Medley Relay foursome set the tone for the afternoon by breaking a pool record in the event. The quartet of seniors Ryan Walsh and John Rein, junior Colton Roe and freshman Conor Kelly swam a 1:37.75, over three seconds faster than the old record set back in 2011.
Walsh and Roe would also win individual events in taking the 100 yard butterfly and 100 yard freestyle, respectively.
Lucas Santiago won the 200 yard intermediate medley while Kevin Flessa took first in the 100 yard backstroke.
Senior diver Jermaine Miller continues to shine on the board as he hit the NCAA qualifying score for 11 dives.
Cortland's Reeve Callen set a new pool record in the 500 yard freestyle, which was previously set in 2003.
