SUNY Oneonta women's soccer wins the 2013 Mayor's Cup Tournament, their last coming in 2007, with victories over RIT and John Carroll.

In today's game versus John Carroll, Oneonta (3-1) had five different players score in the 5-1 win. Sophomore
Caitlyn LaPier (Chazy/Chazy) scored her first collegiate goal in the 29
th minute of the game. She received the ball outside the left hand side of the box and cut toward the top where she struck a shot that went in the upper corner of the back post.

Senior
Karly DeSimone (Clifton Park/Shenendehowa) added a second goal just before the half as she broke through on a breakaway. The initial shot was saved by the Blue Streaks keeper, Haley McDonald, but the ball fell back to the feet of DeSimone who chipped it over the keeper and into the net.

The second half saw a first for three players as they all scored their first collegiate goals in an Oneonta uniform. Sophomore
Kayla Distin (Fulton/G. Ray Bodley) put Oneonta up by three in the 61
st minute. DeSimone broke down the right hand side of the field and placed a driven cross along the top of the 18 to Distin, who took one touch and floated the ball over the keepers head.

John Carroll (0-3-1) would get on the board as Taylor Tercek took the ball from Oneonta keeper,
Rori Stark (Brewster/Brewster), and touched it into the goal to make the game 3-1 at the 82:47 mark.

Oneonta responded as they scored less than one minute later when
Avery Serfis (West Hurley/Onteora) ripped a shot from the right hand corner just outside the eighteen to the upper corner on the back post.

Freshman
Casey Walsh (Pearl River/Pearl River) would make the final 5-1 when she put away a penalty kick, after a hand ball in the box, in the 87
th minute.

Oneonta starting keeper,
Kelley Murphy (Albany/Colonie Central), and Stark combined for five saves while their counterpart McDonald made nine.

On Saturday, the Red Dragons defeated preseason #23 RIT by the score of 1-0, played at Hartwick College.
Kayla Ceschini (Miller Place/Miller Place) scored the lone goal for Oneonta 2:20 into the second half. DeSimone once again played playmaker as she drove the ball across the top of the six yard box. Ceschini was able to slide a foot in front of the defender to put the ball into the back of the goal.

Oneonta held RIT to just three shots on the game.

Murphy didn't make a save in the shutout victory.

DeSimone was named Kim Muller Offensive MVP and
Liz Lasota (Cutchogue/Mattituck) was named
Tracey Ranieri Defensive MVP.

Amanda Regensburger (Selden/Newfield), junior
Krystal Scott (Centereach/Newfield) and sophomore Ceschini and
Erica Berry (Bellmore/Kellenberg Memorial) were named to the All-Tournament Team.
