Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women's soccer defeats cross-town rival Hartwick 4-0

The SUNY Oneonta women's soccer team travelled over to cross-town rival Hartwick and walked away with a 4-0 victory in their final regular season game of the season. Oneonta improves to 10-4-3 while the Hawks fall to 7-7-3.

Sophomore Kayla Ceschini (Miller Place/Miller Place) broke the scoring open in the 30th minute as she received the ensuing Hartwick goal kick and dribbled into the box before firing the ball home for her fifth of the season.

Oneonta continued to pressure in the first half. In the 30th minute, sophomore Liz Lasota (Cutchogue/Mattituck) placed a corner kick in the penalty box that was knocked around before classmate Jessica Lyden (Burnt Hills/Burnt Hills) buried it in the net to give the Red Dragons a 2-0 lead going into the halftime break.

The second half was all about the Oneonta seniors as Amanda Regensburger (Selden/Newfield) and Melissa Guglielmo (Somers/Somers) each scored and Karly DeSimone (Clifton Park/Shenendehowa) provided an assist.

The Red Dragons opened up the half by earning three straight corner kicks but were unable to convert any of them as they were put out by the Hawks defense.

Regensburger would score her third goal of the season in the 70th minute. The initial shot was taken by Guglielmo and saved by Hawks keeper, Annie Millar, but the ball bounced around and was headed out by a Hartwick player before Regensburger made the back of the net ripple with her shot.

Guglielmo would close out the game, scoring the fourth goal, just 2 mintues later as she took a pass from DeSimone and slotted it past the keeper.

Oneonta outshot the Hawks 17-5 and held a 10-0 advantage in corner kicks.

Oneonta now has a week off before hosting the SUNYAC Semifinals on November 6th at 11 a.m. after claiming the regular season title this past weekend. They will play the winner of the Brockport/Oswego game which takes place on Saturday at Brockport.
