In the opening dual meet of the season, SUNY Oneonta men's swimming and diving defeated Oswego on the road 130-113.
The highlight on the afternoon was the diving display of junior Jermaine Miller. Miller qualified for nationals and was first on the 1 meter diving board with a score of 295.05 in six dives. He also won the 3 meter event with a score of 270.10.
Oneonta (1-0) took the top three places in the 200 yard IM. Sophomore Joseph Galan finished in first with a time of 2:02.97 while classmate Lucas Sanitago was second and junior Kevin Flessa finished third.
The Red Dragons took first and third in both the 1000 yard freestyle and the 100 yard butterfly. Sophomore Stephen Penteck won the 1000 free in a time of 10:53.88 while Cody Galusha was third with a 10:55.66. The 100 fly was won by senior Ryan Walsh in 53.61 while Santiago was third.
Galan would also win the 500 yard freestyle in a time of 5:05.31 while junior Colton Roe won the 100 yard backstroke with a 54.63 finish.
