Women's Soccer defeats Potsdam 4-0

Sophomore forward Kayla Ceschini (Miller Place/Miller Place) and senior forward Karly DeSimone (Clifton Park/Shenendehowa) scored in the opening 18 minutes as SUNY Oneonta downed host SUNY Potsdam 4-0 in a SUNYAC women's soccer match on Saturday afternoon at Maxcy Turf Field.

The Red Dragons (6-3-3/3-0-3 SUNYAC) padded their lead with two extra goals in the second half.   Sophomore Liz Lasota (Cutchogue/Mattituck) headed in a goal off a lofty corner kick pass from senior Amanda Regensburger (Selden/Newfield) and then DeSimone racked up her second goal of the day inside the crease in the 74th minute.

The Bears (5-7-1/2-3 SUNYAC) were on the defensive for the majority of the first half and got outshot 7-1.  Oneonta closed with advantages of 19-5 on shot attempts and 8-0 on corner kicks.

Red Dragons' sophomore keeper Rori Stark (Brewster/Brewster) played 70:30 of clean soccer before handing it over to Becky Fildes, who helped complete the shutout.  Stark improved to 3-1-3.

Regensburger finished the game with two assists while Krystal Scott (Centereach/Newfield) and Avery Serfis (West Hurley/Onteora) each contributed one.

On Friday afternoon, the Red Dragons travelled to Plattsburgh and came away with a 0-0 double overtime tie.
