The SUNY Oneonta women's basketball team completed its weekend sweep today by knocking off Plattsburgh 65-52.  Junior Alyshia Crawford (Oxford/Oxford) led four players in double figures with a career high 21 points today, as Oneonta's defense forced 20 turnovers and held Plattsburgh (8-7/4-4 SUNYAC) to just 23 percent shooting.  Oneonta (6-9/3-5 SUNYAC) converted those turnovers into 26 points while also scoring 36 points in the paint.

Oneonta trailed for most of the first half until a three-pointer by freshman Lyteshia Price (Liverpool/Liverpool) capped a 14-0 run that gave the Red Dragons a 22-18 lead with 8:36 left in the first half.  The two teams headed to halftime tied at 26 apiece.  Price finished the contest with 13 points and seven rebounds.

The two teams were still tied early in the second half at 32 each before a 15-3 run by Oneonta put the game out of reach for the Cardinals.  Freshman Caitlin Cariseo (Syracuse/Jamesville Dewitt) scored at bucket at the 12 minute mark that gave the Red Dragons a commanding 47-35 lead.

Oneonta had 10 blocks in the game led by sophomore Sarah Longto (Kingston/Kingston), who had four rejections to go with her 10 points and game high 14 rebounds.

Junior point guard Grace Schilling (Northport/Northport) followed last night's double digit performance with 13 points.  She also had four assists and six on Oneonta's 12 steals in the game.

Oneonta faces its rival from SUNY Cortland on Tuesday night at home beginning at 6pm.  The game is highlighted by the annual “Battle of the Red Dragons” event, which has annually attracted more than 2,000 spectators.
