The Oneonta State baseball team had one bad inning today, but it cost them in a 6-4 loss to Ithaca College. Oneonta (14-18) made three first inning errors that led to four unearned runs as the Bombers scored five times.
Ithaca (19-8-1) made three errors in the game including two that led to a pair of unearned runs in the bottom of the second inning for Oneonta when they scored three runs.
After the second inning, the game moved along with both pitching staffs settling in and both defenses playing solid baseball. Oneonta ended up out-hitting Ithaca 11-10. Ithaca left 10 runners on base while Oneonta stranded nine.
Ithaca starter Andrew Sanders benefitted from the five-run first inning en route to picking up his first win of the season. He pitched five innings and struck out four batters. Senior Tucker Healy pitched the ninth inning, striking out two batters, in picking up his third save of the season.

Mike McFerran (Albany/Catholic Central) got the loss, but pitched well in his five innings. He struck out four batters and allowed seven hits. The bullpen threw four scoreless innings allowing only three hits over the final four innings.
Senior
Kevin Knack (Ghent/Ichabod Crane), who collected three hits and an RBI from the leadoff spot, led the Oneonta offense. Junior
Rob Peluso (Rensselaer/Columbia) was 2-for-2 with an RBI.
Sophomore Luke Stark had three hits for the Bombers and a pair of runs batted in. Classmate Tim LoCastro was the other Bomber with a multiple hit game with two hits.
Oneonta will be on the road this weekend for its final SUNYAC three-game series versus Brockport. The Red Dragons are battling for the final playoff spot in the conference tournament and need at least one win for a chance to earn that spot.
