The Oneonta State swimming & diving teams ended its regular season yesterday at Hartwick. The men competed in a quad meet while the women participated in a tri meet with St. Lawrence and SUNY Cobleskill. The men came away with a pair of wins, defeating both St. Lawrence and Cobleskill while the women dropped a pair. With the two wins, the men finished 5-3 in dual meets this season while the women finished 2-5 overall.

On the men's side, the top performers versus Hartwick and St. Lawrence included sophomores
Jermaine Miller (Elmira/Southside ),
Ryan Walsh (Wingdale/Arlington),
Alex Vaughn (Windsor/Windsor) and junior
Alex Miller, whom all picked up two individual wins.
Alex Miller's pair of wins came in the win over St. Lawrence with victories in the 400 IM (4:22.55) and the 100-yard freestyle (49.42).
Jermaine Miller (Elmira/Southside ), Walsh and Vaughn swam to first place in their individual events that carried over to each of the dual meets. Miller won the 1-meter diving event with an NCAA provisional score of 303.85. Walsh won the 100-yard butterfly (53.23) while Vaughn won the 100-yard breaststroke (1:02.72).
Men who won individual events versus St. Lawrence included freshmen
Michael Yavid (Stony Brook/Ward Melville),
Colton Roe (Middletown/Pine Bush) and
John Buckley (Highland Mills/Monroe Woodbury). Yavid won the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 23.25. Roe won the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 54.11. Buckley won the 3-meter diving event with a score of 227.75.
On the women's side, junior
Kristen Magliola (Shoreham/Shoreham Wading River) was the only individual to swim to a first place finish versus both Hartwick and St. Lawrence. Versus Hartwick, she won the 100 breaststroke in a time of 1:12.82 while she won the 400 IM against St. Lawrence with a time of 4:49.32.
Individual winners in the St. Lawrence dual included sophomore
Chandler Shepard (Delhi/Delaware Academy) and freshman
Hannah Hillebrand (Stony Point/North Rockland). Shepard won the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 57.07 while Hillebrand took first in the 3-meter diving with a score of 198.15.
The men and women will now begin to prepare for the SUNYAC championship meet that begins on Thursday, Feb. 9 at Erie Community College in Buffalo, N.Y.
