FREDONIA, N.Y.—The Oneonta State women's basketball team continued its winning ways in the SUNYAC with a 62-55 road win at Fredonia tonight.  Seniors Samantha Szkotak (New York Mills/New York Mills) and Madison Slagle (Rome/Rome Catholic) each scored 18 to lead Oneonta to its 11th win of the season and its 9th in the conference.

Oneonta (11-5/9-1) jumped out to a quick 5-0 lead on a three-pointer by Szkotak and sophomore Grace Schilling (Northport/Northport).  Fredonia countered with the next six points to take its one and only lead of the contest.  After the score was tied at 7 apiece, the Red Dragons started to pull away en route to building a 32-21 lead at halftime.

A key factor in tonight's game was the play of the Oneonta bench as they outscored Fredonia's bench 19-2.  Sophomores Kelly Mulligan (Pearl River/Pearl River) and Alyshia Crawford (Oxford/Oxford) combined for 17 of the 19 points that the bench scored in the game.

Slagle had a team high seven rebounds in the game and Szkotak added five boards, but Fredonia finished the game with a 45-34 advantage off the glass including 21 rebounds on the offensive end.

The Blue Devils had three players in double figures led by Becky Hebert who scored a game high 22 points.

Oneonta will travel to Buffalo State tomorrow to take on the Bengals in a battle between the top two teams in the SUNYAC.  The Red Dragons defeated Buffalo State back in December 65-61.
