The SUNY Oneonta women's basketball team remained undefeated in the SUNYAC with a big road win at New Paltz today 61-57.  Senior Samantha Szkotak (New York Mills/New York Mills) hit a three-point shot with 34 seconds left in the game with the score tied at 57 apiece.  Oneonta will enter the semester break in first place in the conference with its 4-0 record while being 5-4 overall.

After Szkotak's basket, New Paltz missed a three-point shot on its next possession and the ball was rebounded by Oneonta sophomore Alyshia Crawford (Oxford/Oxford).  On the ensuing possession, Kristin Pappalardo (Mahopac/Lakeland) was fouled and she made 1-of-2 to give the Red Dragons the four-point lead with 15 seconds remaining.  The Hawks came down and missed another three-point shot and a lay up on the rebound as time expired.

Szkotak registered a double-double in today's game with 10 points and 10 rebounds.  Crawford hit double figures for her second straight game and led Oneonta with 11 points while Pappalardo added 10 points.

Oneonta shot just under 30 percent for the game, but did hit 23-of-28 free throws, which was the difference in the contest.  The Hawks hit only 10-of-19 from the charity stripe.

Oneonta's next game will be on Monday, Jan. 2 in Florida where they will take on Gwynedd-Mercy College at Southeastern University in Lakeland.
