ONEONTA, N.Y.—Junior Samantha Szkotak (New York Mills, New York Mills) led three players in double figures tonight as SUNY Oneonta defeated visiting Plattsburgh 70-54 in SUNYAC women's action. Sophomores Kate Wilverding (Manalapan, NJ, St. John Vianney) and Gabi Regan (Troy, Columbia) came off the bench to score 13 points each, both season highs.

Oneonta (14-3/8-2) held a 10-point lead midway through the second half before starting its final push to win going away. A three-pointer by senior Rebecca Bucci (Marlboro, Our Lady of Lourdes) at the 4:33 mark gave the Red Dragons its largest lead at 67-49. Bucci had six points, three rebounds and a team high five assists in the game. As a team, Oneonta had 18 assists on 22 baskets and blocked nine shots.

Oneonta shot 55 percent in the first half in building a 45-36 lead at halftime. Szkotak hit 5-of-9 from the floor in registering 13 points in the opening half of play.  Regan scored 10 points in 10 minutes of action. The Red Dragons hit 6-of-12 from behind the arc for 18 of its 45 points.

Both teams' benches scored 20 points in the first half. Plattsburgh (6-9/3-6) had a 7-2 advantage on second chance points while Oneonta held a 13-7 advantage in points off turnovers.

The visitors were led tonight by freshman Kathleen Payne, who came off the bench to score a game high 21 points. Plattsburgh outrebounded Oneonta 42-34 including 13 off the offensive glass.

Oneonta will be home again tomorrow afternoon when they host Potsdam at 2:00 p.m.
