NEW PALTZ, N.Y.—SUNY Oneonta freshman Kristin Pappalardo (Mahopac, Lakeland) scored a team high 10 points, but the Red Dragons shot only 30 percent from the floor tonight in dropping a SUNYAC contest at New Paltz 63-51.

Oneonta (12-3/6-2) held the early advantage, grabbing a six point lead at 13-7 after a three-point basket by senior Rebecca Bucci (Marlboro, Our Lady of Lourdes) at 14:35 in the first half. New Paltz (8-7/6-2) countered with six unanswered to tie the game at 13 apiece with less than 10 minutes to go in the half.

Oneonta gained the lead back and built it back to six points when senior Erika Puffer (Unadilla, Unatego) scored a basket at the 4:04 mark for a 26-20 lead. The lead vanished once again as the Hawks scored six consecutive points to bring the game back to its second tie just about two minutes later. Oneonta took a 29-28 lead into halftime.

New Paltz took the lead for good at the 18:55 mark of the second half on a basket by Kaitlin Clifford. The Hawks continued to add to its lead and had it up to as many as 13 points with 4:37 remaining. The hosts shot 43 percent for the game including 57 percent in the closing half.

Oneonta will be in action again this coming Tuesday night at home when they host rival Cortland in a SUNYAC contest beginning at 6:00 p.m.
