BUFFALO, NY—Oneonta (5-2-1/2-0-1) rallied from a two-goal deficit to tie Buffalo State (5-3-2/2-0-1), 2-2, in a conference game today at Coyer Field.
Oneonta scored two quick goals off the foot of
Dana DeSimone (Clifton Park) in the second half to knot things at 2-2 with neither team finding the back of the net again in regulation. Senior captain
Nha Wright (Schenectady) and freshman Kori Hamm (Burlington Flats) both had assists on DeSimone's goals. Buffalo State had a chance to score in the 82nd minute when a shot by Barbara Kiliszek hit the crossbar.
The Bengals took an early lead, scoring two goals in the first 16 minutes of play. Melissa Mahoney and Jessica Andres scored for Buffalo State while Amanda Sauer chipped in an assist.
Buffalo State finished with a 21-20 advantage in shots, and 4-3 edge in corner kicks. Keeper Amy Lusby (West Babylon/N. Babylon) (West Babylon) had 12 saves for the Red Dragons, to extend the team's record to 5-2-1. For SUNYAC tournament tie-breaking purposes, Oneonta finished with a 4-3 advantage in penalty kicks.
The Red Dragons will be home Tuesday September 28th to face Scranton University with a 4:00 p.m. start.
