Seniors #Scott Dubben (Roseboom/Cherry Valley Springfield)# and #Dan Randall (Salem/Salem)# along with freshman #Bryan Marotta (Clifton Park/Shenendehowa)# each had two hits for SUNY Oneonta today, but the Red Dragons dropped a 10-3 decision to Ithaca in non-conference baseball action. Oneonta (12-4) had 11 hits in all in the contest, but stranded nine base-runners in the loss.
Ithaca (6-10) had 12 hits in the game and broke the contest open with three runs in the fifth and four more in the sixth. Juniors Sean Weber (East Schodack/Columbia) and Trevor Wolf (Freeville/Lansing) and freshman Matt Keller (Pelham/Pelham) all had two hits to lead the Bombers' Attack. Junior David Ahonen (Farmington/Victor) and classmate Jarrod Surine (Trumansburg/Trumansburg) each had two runs batted in.
Senior Tom Fishback (Webster/Penfield) pitched 7-2/3 innings collecting four strikeouts to win his third game of the season.
Junior #Anthony Bates (Utica/Proctor)# went five innings allowing nine hits and seven earned runs in falling to 1-3 on the season.
Oneonta will take to the road for two single nine inning games beginning tomorrow at Farmingdale before heading to Old Westbury on Thursday.
