ONEONTA, N.Y.—Host SUNY Oneonta was swept in swimming & diving action today by city rivals Hartwick College. The men fell 162-72 while the women were beaten 165-76. The loss for both teams drops their records to 1-2 overall in dual meets. Both the Hartwick men and women remain undefeated on the season in dual meets raising their records to 5-0.
Sophomore and Oneonta native,
Alex Miller, led the Red Dragons with a pair of wins. Miller won both the 200-yard individual medley and the 100-yard backstroke events.
Freshman
Ryan Walsh (Wingdale/Arlington) won the 100-yard butterfly and was second in the 200-yard freestyle for Oneonta.
Senior
Mitchell Wohl (Schenectady/Niskayuna) won the first round of diving on the men's side with a score of 221.75.
Hartwick's John Wojtech was a double-winner for the men. He won both the 100-yard freestyle and the 100-yard breaststroke events. Wojtech set an Oneonta pool record in winning the latter event in a time of 1:01.40.
Hartwick's Joshua McNorton set a pool record in winning the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:21.57.
On the women's side, Oneonta sophomore
Kristen Magliola (Shoreham/Shoreham Wading River) set a pool record in winning the 200 IM event with a time of 2:15.31. She also placed second in the 200 breaststroke.
Senior diver
Jamie Milchanowski (Manasquan, NJ/Wall Township) took both rounds of 1-meter diving for Oneonta. She scored 191.55 points in the first round and then scored 135.75 points to take the second round.
The Hawks had one double-winner today individually as Robyn Smith captured both the 50-yard freestyle and the 100 back.
Both Samantha McFarland and Stephanie Ha of Hartwick set pool records in winning the 200 free and 100 fly respectively.
The Red Dragons are in action again next weekend when they compete in the North Country Invitational hosted by SUNY Potsdam.
