The SUNY Oneonta men and women's swimming & diving teams fell to SUNY Cortland in dual-meet action tonight in the final meet of the semester for the host Red Dragons. Cortland narrowly edged Oneonta 130-109 on the men's side while coming away with a 143-97 win on the women's side. The loss for both Oneonta
squads drops them each to 1-3 overall while the Cortland men move to 3-2 and the women to 2-3.
Leading the Oneonta women tonight was freshman #
Kristen Magliola (Shoreham/Shoreham Wading River)#, who won both the 400 IM and the 100-yard breaststroke setting pool and school records in the process. She took the 400 IM in a time of 4:45.80 while touching the pad in a time of 1:09.38 to win the 100 breaststroke.
The Oneonta men were led by senior #Joe Farrell# and freshman #
Alex Miller#. Farrell won both the 100 and 200-yard freestyle events, setting a pool record in the latter with a time of 1:45.87. Miller set a school and pool record in winning the 400 IM with a time of 4:32.59 before later winning the 100-yard backstroke in a time of 55.95.
The visiting Red Dragons had no individuals win more than one event on the evening.
Oneonta will be off for five weeks before swimming at home on Monday, Jan. 18 against Skidmore.
