Oneonta Falls to Ithaca in regular season finale 3-1

Red Dragons turn attention to SUNYAC tournament

     The SUNY Oneonta women's soccer team fell to visiting Ithaca College today 3-1 in its regular season finale.  The Red Dragons will now turn its attention to hosting the SUNYAC tournament next weekend, Nov. 6-7, as the top seed after clinching its 11th straight conference regular season crown this past Saturday.  Oneonta will play the winner of the Buffalo State/Geneseo contest on Friday at 11:00 a.m.
     Ithaca will close out its regular season this Saturday against Skidmore College.
     Ithaca, who entered the contest ranked No. 22 in this week's NSCAA poll, scored its first goal of the match in the second minute of the game en route to opening up a three-goal lead in the first 30 minutes.  Senior forward Winnie Adrien (Selden/Blairstown Academy) scored a pair in leading the Bombers (12-4).  Adrien tallied the first two goals for Ithaca, the first coming on a rebound and the second coming on a loose ball near the goal. 
     The final goal for Ithaca  was scored in the 30th minute by sophomore Megan Trager (Sharon, MA/Sharon). who also had the benefit of a rebound that got away from the Oneonta (11-4-3) keeper.
     Freshamn Rachel Palladino (Groton/Lansing) had two assists in the game, helping set up the second and third goals for the Bombers.
     The Red Dragons lone goal today came from junior Nha Wright (Schenectady/Duanesburg), who scored unassisted in the 69th minute.  For Wright it was her sixth point in the last four games.  Last week she registered her first four assists of the year and today she added her first goal of the 2009.
