SUNY Oneonta Athletics

Bethel is the most decorated wrestler in the nearly 60-year history of the wrestling program at SUNY Oneonta.  His athletic accolades are numerous and include being the only four-time wrestling All-American.  He is a four-time NCAA Regional Champion and was the Most Outstanding Wrestler at this year’s regional championship.  He earned All-New York State honors all four years and became the first Oneonta wrestler to win an individual title, which he did at this season’s championships.  He is a two-time Empire Collegiate Wrestling Conference Champion and was selected as 2018-19 Co-Wrestler of the Year in the conference.  His performance on the mat earned him the NCAA Division III “Most Dominant Wrestler” Award for the 2018-19 season.

Bethel, who is being recognized for a third time during his four-year career as the male Athlete of the Year, was 50-2 this year with 30 pins.  He won the Mideast Regional and the New York State Collegiate titles at 285 pounds while finishing third at the NCAA championships.
