Bethel made history this past weekend by wrestling for a national title at the NCAA championships. Bethel ended up finishing as the runner-up, which is the best finish for any wrestler in history at the national tournament.
Bethel, who was seeded No. 2 at 285 pounds, recorded three straight pins to reach the championship bout. In the final, Bethel was overcome in the third period by a reversal and near fall.
This year’s All-American honor is the third of Bethel’s career.
