Bethel went 4-0 this past weekend to win the Mideast Regional title at 285 pounds.  This is the third consecutive time that Bethel has won a regional championship with the previous two coming in the Northeast Region in 2017 and 2015.  His title earned him his third trip to the NCAA championships where he is a two-time All-American.

Bethel’s four wins included a pin, two major decisions and a decision. The pin came in his first match of the tournament against Keystone College’s Josh Newhart in 2:33. He followed the pin with two major decisions over both Keegan Connelly (10-0) and Victor Raigoza (13-2). In the championship match, he took on top-seeded Jake O’Brien of Ithaca College. Earlier in the season the two battled and O’Brien won 2-1. In this matchup Bethel bested O’Brien in a close match, 3-2.
