Alviene opened up his rookie season of indoor track and field with a splash.

Jake shattered the 60-meter hurdle record in his debut meet, as he won the title in the event. His time of 8.15 bettered his mark of 8.23, which he ran in the preliminaries. The record in the event was actually reset three times on the day.

Alviene broke his teammate, Rob Farrell’s mark in his prelim race and then broke it again in the final.
