Oct. 16th at William Smith, L 0-2
Oneonta dropped a game on the road at #11 William Smith, 2-0 last Saturday afternoon.
The herons got on the board in the 33rd minute when their leading scorer was able to redirect a direct kick by a diving header past a diving

In the 43rd minute, junior
Dana DeSimone got her head on a free kick by
Nha Wright but was tipped off the crossbar by the keeper for the Herons to keep the lead going into halftime.
William Smith kept the pressure up and was able to score in the 54th minute when a flicked on ball sent a player through the Oneonta defense and a quick shot found the back of the net.
Oneonta kept pressing to find a goal with a shot by
Kori Hamm was drilled off the crossbar in the 70th minute of play.
The Herons outshot the Red Dragons 19-11 (8-6 on goal) and Oneonta had 3 more corner kicks.

Oct. 19th at Hamilton, T 1-1 (2OT)
SUNY Oneonta and Hamilton played to a 1-1 tie in a non-league women's soccer game at Hamilton's Love Field last Tuesday.
Hamilton is tied for seventh in this week's National Soccer Coaches Association of America Division III East Region Top 10 poll.
Hamilton grabbed a 1-0 lead in the fourth minute on the second shot of the afternoon. A lofted soft shot from outside the goalie box was tipped into the crossbar by Lusby. The ball rebounded right to a Hamilton player, who controlled it and fired it past the diving keeper.
The Continentials almost took 2-0 lead in the 43rd minute, but the shot from about 15 yards out banged off the right post and sailed over the end line. The Red Dragons trailed 1-0 at the half despite owning an 8-7 edge in shots.
It seemed Hamilton would hang on for the victory until Oneonta forced back-to-back corner kicks in the 88th minute. Senior
Caitlin Burke scored the equalizer when she popped a header off the crossbar with about 1:45 remaining, the rebound came right back to her, and she easily deposited the ball in the back of the net. The goal was Burke's first this year.
The Red Dragons were the only team to get a shot on goal during the two 10-minute overtime periods. Lusby stopped nine shots for Oneonta. The Red Dragons held a 19-14 shot advantage, and took 13 corner kicks to just one for the Continentals. Oneonta leads the all-time series, 14-9-6.
Men’s Soccer (9-3-3/5-2 SUNYAC)
Oct. 16th vs. Hobart, T 0-0 (2OT)
The SUNY Oneonta men’s soccer team played a well-fought game against Hobart College offensively and defensively, but so did Hobart as the two team shut each other out in a 0-0 tie last Saturday.
Shortly after being subbed in the 27th minute of play freshman standout
Addison Straub had a chance but the Hobart keeper was able to come up with the diving save to keep the game at zero a piece.
In the 33rd minute of play off a corner kick a Statesman had an open corner of the net and headed it just shy of the post to hold both squads scoreless to end the half.
The second half was much like the first half with either defense keeping the ball away from their end of the field. In the 64th minute of the game, sophomore
Eric Fortier had the best chance of the day when he lasered it towards the left side of the net where the ball was just shy of the net grazing the post.
Hobart had one final chance in regulation with a corner kick in the final seconds, but the Red Dragons defense was able to keep the ball away as time ended.
After a quick first overtime, junior
Tim Sagasti gave hope to the fans in the stands but the Statesman keeper was able to make a diving stop in the second overtime and hold off the Red Dragons to end the game.

Oct. 16th vs. Cortland, L 2-3 (OT)
SUNY Oneonta senior
Ainsley Stoll scored a pair of goals last Saturday, but it was not enough as rival SUNY Cortland defeated the hosts 3-2 in overtime. Stoll’s second goal of the game came in the 67th minute to tie the score and send the game into the extra period. In the opening period of overtime, Cortland scored the game-winner off a rebound in the 77th minute to give the visitors the victory.
Saturday’s loss for Oneonta eliminates them from a playoff spot due to tiebreakers with Morrisville and Brockport, who they tied with for the final spot in the tournament. Cortland’s win locks up second place for the conference tournament the first weekend in November at regular season champion, Geneseo.
Cortland got on the scoreboard first in the game in the 15th minute of play. A Cortland player dribbled around an Oneonta defender and put a shot into the left corner of the goal.
Oneonta came right back three minutes later and capitalized off a penalty corner where Stoll took the pass in from junior Camp and blasted a shot by the Cortland goalie.
Cortland held a 15-3 shot advantage through the opening half of play, but the two teams went into halftime knotted at 1-1.
A freshman gave Cortland the 2-1 lead just four minutes into the second half, scoring off of a rebound of a shot.
Stoll’s tying goal came off a flurry of penalty corners where the hosts turned up the pressure trying to get the equalizer. Stoll got the pass in from Camp and passed it across to sophomore
Ashley Johnson who then returned it to Stoll, who one-timed it to the back of the cage.
Dauphinais made 12 saves on the day in goal for Oneonta.
