Rose came to the United States in 1979 to attend the College at Oneonta and to play as a forward for the soccer team, graduating in 1983 with a degree in Business Economics.  He was a tri-captain as a senior, a SUNYAC All-Conference selection four times and, in 1981 and 1982, was an All-New York State honoree.

Rose was drafted by the Cleveland Force in 1983 and began playing professionally before an injury cut his professional career short.  The injury did not deter him from playing consistently during the next 20 years with a team based in Utica, the Coliseum, the Real Caribe team of Queens, and many other teams in the New York City area where he had moved in 1984 to begin a successful career in banking.  He was working for the Bank of New York while also playing and serving as the president of the New York banking soccer league at the time of his death on March 23, 2002.  His unexpected passing came while playing the game that he loved.

He was a devoted father to his son, Brandon, in whom he took great pride.  In addition to his son, he is
survived by his wife, Jennifer Housen, his mother Joyce Rose, and his sister, Sharman Rose.  He lived the values he espoused - loyalty, good sportsmanship, and harmony.  The country of Jamaica, the City of Oneonta, the College at Oneonta, his family and his friends were very important to him.
